Output is available as single-sided or double-sided. A variety of paper
stocks are available in 8.5x11, 11x17 or 12x18 laser paper. Specialty
items such as greeting cards, trifold brochures, tabs, and labels are
also available.
The following checklist should help you design files:
 |
Design with ample gutters for folded jobs to
ensure text columns and graphics fit within the folded area. |
|
Items placed too close to the edge may end up
getting cut off if you are trimming the pages after printing. |
|
Always include a dummy or "go-by" if
we are providing finishing services. |
Unsupported fonts must be supplied. Note that PowerPoint can be buggy
about properly accessing fonts in placed .eps graphics. Convert your
fonts to graphic elements in the software the graphic was created in
before importing into PowerPoint, otherwise the fonts may output as
"Courier".
Scans should be 200-300 dpi for best results. You should scan your images
in at the final size. Stretching or shrinking an image can cause pixel
distortion and is not recommended. Save scans in CMYK to ensure color
fidelity.
Save as .eps or .tif for placement into your page
layout software for the most dependable output. Set color for any scanned
files in the software they originate in, re-coloring scans after importing
them into your page layout software can cause unexpected results.
Color laser printers are CMYK toner-based devices. While CMYK is recommended,
RGB is acceptable. Our Rip handles RGB conversion quite well, so designing
in CMYK is not as critical as it has been in the past. We still recommend
working in CMYK whenever possible for best color consistency.
It is important to realize that CMYK laser output will not match a Pantone
Swatchbook display exactly. We recommend the Pantone Process Color Imaging
Guide 1000. This guide provides a more realistic view of the CMYK print
results of the Pantone values selected. It is also important to check
the actual values of the color created rather than trusting your monitor.
Monitors display color differently, so you cannot always trust that
what you see is exactly what you'll get. We highly recommend you design
a test print for output first to familiarize yourself with color laser
output.
To verify colors print as expected, request a free color test (limit
of one page per job) printed within 24 hours of receipt. To ensure the
colors you have tested output as expected, the color test must be returned
with your order with notation.
Your file must include crop marks if trimming is required and a folding
sample must be supplied as a "go-by" if applicable.
